According to the New York Daily News, my source for all legitimate journalism (false), cyclists are now just a “bunch of psychos”
“In a mere 35 minutes late Wednesday afternoon, Daily News reporters armed with speed guns caught 16 cyclists breaking the 25 mph speed limit. One was clocked at 30 mph. Park strollers said they live in constant fear of getting clobbered and griped that cyclists don’t give a hoot about them.
Really. The Horror.
The whole article is just one big bike-hate-rant and now I officially deplore the NYDN.
Listen to what Angy Altamirano says at the end of the video:
“So after surveying 100 bicyclists, four went over the speed limit, the highest going 28 miles per hour and the speed limit’s 25. And most of them were in the range between 10, 11, and 19, 16, 17 around there.”
Four percent. And most well below the speed limit. Sounds like there is, in fact, no story here whatsoever.
And I doubt any cyclocomputer is accurate enough to get nitpicky about those extra 3mph. I know for a fact NO car speedometer is that accurate.
What´s the allowed percentage of “over speed” allowed for cars anyway?
